About the job

We are looking for a competent Festival of Light (FOL) / Tourism director to oversee and organize community events that will make an impact on a large target audience. You’ll ensure events are successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints. An event director is, above all, a project manager who understands marketing and promotion techniques. We want to see enthusiastic candidates with fresh ideas and the organizational skills required to not leave anything about an event to chance. Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

• Execute event from start to finish according to requirements; Develops, coordinates, and implements events and fundraising strategies.

• Come up with suggestions to enhance the event’s success

• Lead promotional activities for the event

• Supervise all event staff

• Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur

• Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports, prepare agendas and board packets for board meetings

• Maintains budget for key events.

• Serves as liaison to event vendors, sponsors and volunteers.

Requirements

• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays during Festival of Light season (Nov – Dec). Jan – Oct work hours will be 9-5 with occasional night/weekend events.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or other related field preferred or Proven experience as event manager or similar

• Skilled in project management

• Computer & social media savvy

• Outstanding communication and negotiation ability

• Excellent organizational skills

• A knack for problem-solving

• Customer-service orientation

• A team player with leadership skills; must work well with others and understand community standards
