#TheGoodStuff: Free Family Fun on the Fourth!
#Thegoodstuff: free family fun on the fourth!

I get concerned sometimes that we take our small town charm for granted. Small things that have been happening for so long, we just expect them to always happen or be there. The Chief Drive In, J&W Grill, the Chickasha Rodeo, shopping at boutique stores Downtown, Jake’s Rib, the Grady County Fair, the Festival of Light…and Parades!
I absolutely love a good parade and Chickasha has several of them: the Rodeo Parade, Homecoming Parade, the Christmas Parade, but don’t forget about a new tradition on the 4th of July “The Parade of Stars and Handlebars.” It will happen again this Saturday at 6 pm at Shannon Spring Park and this one is specifically for Kids! I spoke to a local businessman recently and he remarked that his grandkids love this 4th of July parade because it’s all about them. Kids, kids, and more kids. Kids riding bikes, walking dogs, driving golf carts, pulling wagons…They are the “Stars” in that tagline I mentioned earlier.
As we celebrate America 250, you can expect this year’s festivities to be even bigger. The Pool opens up at 10 am and kids 15 and under swim free! Food Trucks will set up at 4 pm along with bounce houses, jugglers and other free fun games for kids. The City of Chickasha will be serving up free hot dogs and watermelon. They are baking up a HUGE America 250 Birthday cake that will also be sliced up passed out free while it lasts. A DJ will add to the festivities playing music all evening.
The Chamber will start registering floats starting at 5:30 by the restrooms on the West side of the park. The parade will begin at 6 pm and will be led by circus performers and will go East through the park and then circle back to its original starting point. The City will have a costume contest at 7 pm.
At 9 pm the pregame festivities start with the circus performers doing a Fire performance in the park amphitheater and then at dark the LARGEST Fireworks show ever in Chickasha. Get out and enjoy all #TheGoodStuff our Community has to offer this weekend!
